If you are thinking about starting to blog, I’m sure you are wondering how to write a good blog. You don’t want to throw online just any old thing. Make a blog that you can be proud of. If your friends and family come to it, make sure they would impressed!

So, how do you write a good blog? Let’s talk about some of the key points.

Consistency

It is very important to post to your blog regularly and consistently. In other words, don’t post five times one week and then skip a few weeks before posting again. Your readers will not know when (or if) you’re going to post again, so they will probably just give up on it and go elsewhere. Don’t let that happen.

Try to post at least once a week, a few times is better. Put a form on your blog to allow people to sign up for email updates, so that they know when you write a new post.

Include Some of “You”

People find blogs interesting that show a little of who you are as a person. Yes, your blog may be all about business, but people want to get to know the person behind the business. Without getting too personal, share some details of your life (with discretion) with your readers. It will help build trust as they get to know you and find out they relate to you in some way.

Use Pictures

Pictures add so much to a blog! Try to include one image in every post you write. You can either take the pictures yourself or get them online. There are some free sites that will allow you to use their images with just a link back to the artist. Others charge a small fee to buy and use the image.

Make sure the images are relevant to the post. Don’t post pictures of your dog or kids when you are writing about internet marketing:-)

Google will not issue an AdSense payment until your earnings exceed $100. Unfortunately, there are loads of Google AdSense Forum entries about website operators who accumulated $90 or more in click through earnings only to get banned from Google and not get paid anything at all before they ever reached $100. This may be because Google doesn’t take a close look to see if you’re complying with their guidelines until it comes time to pay you.

Don’t's:

Do not click your ads. If Google catches you, they will suspend your account and retain any earnings you might have. However, if you, by mistakes, click your ads for one or two times, Google will keep that earning but rather not to punish you as long as it doesn’t happen constantly.
Google has a lot of restrictions on how the ads have to be displayed. One of the major reasons for account suspension is that webmasters tried to blur the ads and mislead others to think that it’s “content”. For simplicity, never attempt to use CSS to hide Google’s logo unless you’re authorized to do it.

Patience is key with Google. It can take a few months. Don’t create a hodgepodge site with topics on everything under the sun. Stay focused and make sure your site has an obvious theme.

Getting into Google is completely free and can bring in hundreds or even thousands of visitors per day. Then do the same with Yahoo, MSN, etc. All The Best!

Google Sitelinks Tips and Best Practices

Hello Everyone and Happy New Year once again. Recently, I saw my new year gift from Google and that is: “One Line Sitelinks for eMarketinGuide.com.” Have a look on below mentioned snapshot, how it’s looking:

Here are some of the basic and advance but important tips to bring sitelinks for your site:

SEO is Important: Your blog / site should have optimized title, description and keywords Meta tags. If you own a WordPress blog, you can try All-in-one-SEO-pack but basis search engine optimization is required for every site.
Remove Broken Links: Make your website error free by removing the 404 / error links.
Number of WebPages: Unless your website / blog have some articles it is impossible to get sitelinks. Your blog should have at-least 20-25 WebPages.
Internal Linking: The best way to bring sitelnks is interlinking. Interlink your important WebPages from different other WebPages (which you want to think in sitelinks). It also helps from users and usability perspective to increase page views and users stay time.
Good and Simple Navigation: Your blog should have good and simple navigation system. Try to have a
- list of links at the top for your blog. Put the navigation links in these tags. They also consider title tags of the pages.
- Search Engines Traffic: If you get lot of traffic from search engines your blog will surely get familiar and it will be easy for getting sitelinks. Your blog should have High click through rates.
- Searches and Clicks: The number of searches and the no. of clicks that your blog gets for a certain keyword will also be considered for sitelinks. Your blog should also get many clicks for the searched keyword.
- Flow of Traffic: Your WebPages should have a consistent flow of traffic to get Google Sitelinks. If the traffic sources are from Search Engines, you should be more than happy.
- Blog’s Age: It was time when you need to wait for a year or so to get one or multi-line sitelinks. Now-a-days, Google can assign sitelinks to your site within 4-5 months, those WebPages should be high relevant to their users.
- Quality Content: Content is the king and it’ll provide you the targeted traffic so update your blog with quality content on a regular basis.
- Link Bait: If you write a quality article copy, then you’ll get the advantage of link bait.
- Sitemap: Create an error free sitemap, include all the links in the sitemap. Make sure to submit the sitemap in Google webmaster tool.
- Reconsider Your Site: If you didn’t get sitelinks even after applying above mentioned tips, then you should request Google to reconsider your site. You have this option in Google Webmaster Tools.

Google Adsense Future

Now-a-days, every online user knows about Google Adsense Program and wants to make full/part time earnings from it (such a popular product by Google). Today, I’ll discuss about Google Adsense future in my blog.

Recently, Google announced in their adsense blog of having more than “1 Million Adsense Publishers” (A huge list of publishers that Google have).

You also must hear about Adsense new ads layout though only some of you noticed it. Google is experimenting with it’s new adsense ads layout. Publishes, on whose networks, these new layout ads are running, earning a lot better because these ads more like website inside stuff instead of a ad of third party website.

I noticed a thread of WebMasterWorld about Adsense future. The next thing that arise in my mind what will be future of Google Adsense program in next 5 years? Will they capture the rest of publishers or it’ll be difficult to survive in the market?

WordPress 2.9+ comes with recycle bin feature: Any post which gets deleted intentionally or accidentally by the users can be retrieved and restored from the trash area. The posts remain in the recycle bin for a default period of 30 days and get removed permanently there after. With WordPress 2.9 the users can also edit the wp-config.php file and have the option to control the trash bin.
