This article is very useful for all new or existing small-medium businesses in search of customers and clients.

In case, if you are planning to launch a business online, then there is no harm to guess that you would like your business to earn you money. In any case, remaining is just a hobby. A good reason to do that is, there are lots of ways to earn money online. Not only that, there is also plenty of space to advertise your business. Out of these most admired methods is email promotion or email marketing. It is very low cost and most importantly, it’s successful.

Here are few tips before you put your first step:

1. Create a list is essential to be effective. If you have done any sort of research or read about email marketing, then you might have read this quote as well, “The money is in the list.” The rationale behind many people advocate it, because it’s true. Actually, it’s so vital that the whole thing that follows revolves around this tip.

2. Made a choice, market ceaselessly. Getting traffic on your website requires a lot of resources. It’s required, but email marketing simplifies things. Know it, how visitors come to your site, you persuade them to share their email address with you. After that it hardly matters if they never visit your site again. As an alternative, you would be able to market them each time as per your requirement.

3. Offer some value every time. Most commonly asked question about email marketing is how frequently to send promotional emails and how often to send info only emails. There is a always a warning that you should restrain from sending too many sales/promotional emails, but that’s not right at all. Given that you are present value with what you are selling, then nothing wrong in that.

4. Give a thought while creating persuasive email subject lines. The subject is what the people will see in their email inbox. If they don’t find it interesting or if it doesn’t entice them to see what’s inside, then they will send it to trash, even without opening it. So, that means no sales. On the other hand, if you can at least convince them to open your email, then you are likely to get a chance to showcase your offer to them.

5. Avoid being too eye-catching. Indeed, there are many subject lines that can give you a much higher email opening rate, but you should avoid them to trick people into opening the email. Or in case you do then they might open your email, but soon they will realize that you have tricked them. They will simply unsubscribe or mark as spam to your email. An easy way to put it is to each time ensure that the body of the promotional email message justify any promises you put together in the subject line.

So, these were the only few tips to assist you with your email marketing business. There is many of other stuff you can do, but having said that, these ones are a good start. With all of the things it has going for it, every minute you waste is another minute you will be letting off opportunity to make money.

A common question I hear is ‘will my emails go into junk boxes?’

Well, if you fill them with junk then I’d hope so! Junk filters exist to make our lives easier, protect our computers and weed out malevolent or inappropriate content. However, sometimes perfectly innocent and relevant emails get caught up by the algorithms that decide what’s groovy and what’s not and it can be for all manner of unexpected reasons.

Here’s an example: Say you’ve created an email campaign about a brand new product, a product that’s taken years of development and significant investment to get to this stage. When you’re broadcasting the good news to your clients you NEED to be sure that they receive it without complication, so you do your best to keep the email tidy, succinct and clean. But it hits your junk box.

Ensuring Quality Bulk Email Marketing:

At this stage, there are a number of obvious things you can check for first including:

Profanity (even innocent words that can potentially be taken the wrong way)

Excessive use of exclamation points or other punctuation

Lots of different sizes and colours in your copy

Oversized or excessive numbers of images

Hyperlinks to suspicious sites

Suspect/’salesy’ subject lines

A single, strong instance of any one of the above could be the sole cause of your problem, and should be relatively easy to spot. Unfortunately, in the real world it’s the combined effect of minor SpamBugs here and there (which on their own wouldn’t cause any problems) that causes junking and which therefore makes the testing process ESSENTIAL.

A number of 3rd party programs/services are available that can ‘rate’ your email for you, giving you an idea of how spammy it’s going to look to various different inboxes. These are fine, but should only be used as a starting point in my experience. We have a mantra here – “TEST, TEST and TEST again” – because there is no substitute. Best practice dictates that you take extra steps to ensure that you’ve done a good job, the right way. I advise you to spend a few minutes visiting major web based email services like Gmail and Hotmail and opening free ‘emailtest@’ accounts; you will find it makes a world of difference to your campaign creation process, and ultimately the results you might achieve.

Create the email

Send a test to multiple inboxes

Amend and repeat if necessary

It would seem rather delirious to picture the average 20th century mailman bolting past white picket fences and over excitable domestic animals in order to oust rival mailmen by making that perfectly timed delivery. Strange as it may seem, the digital scenario we are facing today is not as different to this than some might think. Information delivery is profitable in the new world e-commerce order, and wherever there is more than one data punter, there is a war of the inbox. So with that said, who’s really the best email marketing software provider? How do you compare them?

Those are difficult questions, especially with all the email marketing software packages available out there, all promising excellent designs and powerful bulk email features that can get best results and beat your competitors, etc. etc. It’s tough to settle on any particular one. Emailing marketing software has become an essential component of modern bulk marketing strategies and direct marketers and list managers need reliable and fast bulk email marketing software solutions. But how are they really to know the dissimilarities from one package to another?

On average, the intent behind any bulk email software usually has something to do with sending newsletters or promotional materials to lists of opt-in subscribers. These same systems typically include databases that store contact information, analytics and statistics, message histories and have some or other interface that provides all the necessary sending features to run a good email campaign. These email software packages range in price from free of charge to exuberant, so make sure you know where all the money is going before you open your wallet.

Email marketing may remain one of the best marketing options for positive returns on investment, but not all businesses are able to properly manage their growing list of online clients and keep their promotional house in order without professional email marketing software. These services simplify the marketing process for overwhelmed businesses, helping them to more effectively sell and their products or spread their message. But the catch is that most often these software pages are mostly or entirely self-service. Unless these businesses have contracted themselves to third party campaign management through an agency or reseller, they are left to their own devices regarding how to implement these email communications super-weapons.

Left with an often dizzying initial product learning curve, users then usually proceed to become embattled with their service provider, sometime after which divorcing them and opting for a young, sexier ESP until a happy-ever-after is attained.

Email has become a leading form of communication and a critical practice is to find the email marketing software that works for you personally. Everyone around the world checks their emails on a daily to hourly basis, waiting for news and notices. So while there is no reason to keep yourself out of this marketing maelstrom, it might take some trial and error before you locate the ESP you’d want to name your grandchildren after. The true conflict is within your own campaign operations and what you need from them, and no bulk email software package has really got more fire power than the other when you keep in mind that novice users are and remain oblivious of advanced features for longer than it takes from them to decide if a product is for them. And also, that the borders between personal choice and technological agnosticism are two tracks on the same railroad.

There are very few worse things that a SEO specialist can do to simultaneously ruin their reputation and their business than engaging in unscrupulous and indecorous online communication activity. Some of SEO email marketers out there are making the deadly error of deciding to “bend the rules” by trying on the ebony Stetson.

Sneaking in permission-granting on unrelated forms in 5 point type, or even the seemingly innocent “I have their business card, that means they want my newsletter” ploys are to be avoided just as much as the following suicidal tactics.

Don’t even think of Craigslist

Craigslist is such a tempting target that some email marketers simply can’t resist trying to pluck its low hanging fruit. At your very fingertips are millions of perfectly geographically and topic targeted email accesses… except that they’re not email addresses but Craigslist’s own forwarders. Another tactic is to reply to Craiglist’s alias emails in order to solicit a response which arrives from the individual’s real email address. However, Craigslist’s attorneys are liberally distributing Cease & Desist orders to anyone trying to “scrape” email addresses from their site and they have highly sophisticated ways of identifying the “scrapers” in order to put them out of business.

As long as you can generate a few million phone verified accounts and have your IP match the geographical location of each ad, then you should be just fine. But if you decide that the cost and complexity of accomplishing that prerequisite is too much trouble, and so you’re going to do it directly: Congratulations, you’re busted! Violators report that Craigslist keeps the attorneys coming at you in waves. The same applies to Facebook, eBay, and other major sites: nothing but legal vehemence, pain and suffering waiting there.

Anonymizers lead straight to your door

Applying email harvesters was the hot setup at the dawn of the online era, but that process has gone the way of the brontosaurus. Harvesting addresses for “batch & blast” emails is not only wholly ineffective and will land you in infinite honeypot traps but will also violate all sorts of federal laws. Don’t believe the snake oil salesmen who are trying to convince you that they can adequately “anonymize” your blast to keep your identity private. Anything anyone does on the internet is traceable. If a federal agency becomes sufficiently motivated to find you, they will.

Take offshore off your radar

Certainly that solicitation to send millions of emails from servers in faraway countries such as Ukraine or Russia is a great way to blast! Right? Wrong! There is no server anywhere on the planet that can’t be tracked by the feds. Worse yet, some of these offshore operators will actually blackmail you with threats of turning you over to the authorities unless you pay them off.

VPS: Very Pathetic Stupidity

Using a VPS or dedicated server for excessive emailing is going to land you in hot water. Too many missives originating from the same IP are going to trigger red flags across cyberspace. Professional email service providers spend an inordinate amount of time and effort in assuring ISPs that they are legitimate, ethical senders. Unless you have the resources to engage in a similar program, you’re going to be out of luck.

Black Hat email marketing does not work, is against the law, and will land you in jail. If that isn’t enough of an incentive to steer a clear path of anyone advocating Black Hat tactics, then you might want to consider them as your future cellmates.

Hidden Unsubscribing text

Making the unsubscribe text invisible by applying the same color as the page’s background. This was a very old trick that allowed placing huge amounts of keyword-enriched text without spoiling user’s experience, but nowadays search engines can easily detect it and blacklist the whole site in no time. And yes, in case you’re wondering, they can detect it on CSS style-sheets as well, so don’t even try.

Email marketing campaigns are a fast, efficient and affordable way to stay in contact with past clients, garner new sales and promote your business. Starting an effective email marketing campaign is easy with a few tested strategies that can open up a whole new base of clientele.

And email marketing is by far the BEST and CHEAPEST way to stay in touch with your customers and build rock-solid relationships with them — so they’ll buy from you again and again! (This is called the “lifetime value” of your customers, and it’s extremely profitable.)

Consider this: About 99% of your website visitors will leave without buying anything from you on their first visit. But by creating a great opt-in offer you can at least get their contact details — and then use email marketing to follow up, build relationships, and turn them into paying customers. Business 2.0 recently reported that permission-based marketing messages enjoy a response rate of 11.5%, compared to a mere 0.55% for banner click through’s.

If you’re stuck for ideas on how to use email marketing to ramp up your profits? Here you can start with 10 proven tactics:

Develop relationships & establish credibility by offering free information: Highlighting how you have helped past clients is an effective way to show what you can do.

Acknowledge the subscription of a user: Plainly put, you must give subscribers a choice. Subscribers must make a conscience decision that they wish to receive your email. Avoid stealth sign-up methods that collect addresses. Avoid pre-checked newsletter boxes that opt users in with little deference to their true desires. Confirmation of all subscriptions should be required.

To help you maintain an efficient operation, you can automate the acknowledgement process by setting up an auto responder to your subscription email. An auto responder feature allows you to create a customized message that will automatically be generated and sent to your list member to let him/her know that you have received a message. You can start out your acknowledgement email as “Thank you for subscribing to our weekly newsletter.”Keep a record of all requests for subscription to your newsletter or product offerings, even years afterward.

Allow users to unsubscribe from your list: Be respectful. Always include an opt out message at the bottom of the page. Include clear instructions and a link for opting out of future mailings. Not only will this save you the headache of dealing with people that really want off your list, it builds trust in clients that are actually reading your emails.

Keep your email list clean by removing faulty email addresses. ISPs monitor the volume of email sent as well as the failure rates. Large volumes of both are indicative of spam and could result in your domain being black listed. ISP’s make the assumption that you are a spammer & could block all emails from your domain.

Personalize: Response rates to email campaigns are said to increase with the personalization of emails. People are prone to respond more favorably to emails that start with their names, or personalized salutations such as “Dear Susan.” However, personalize your emails only if you have information on the first names of your subscribers or opt-in list. If you’ve incomplete data, never attempt to personalize your emails and have your emails start with “Dear Unknown.” There is nothing more irritating to an email recipient than being labeled as an “unknown.”

Subjects: Be honest with subject line. Make sure your subject line is relevant and capture the reader’s interest. If the first couple of sentences are not related to the subject line, you will lose your audience. Many email readers screen their email by simply deleting those topics they deem SPAM.

Offer electronic “loyalty coupons”: This is a great way to get your existing customers to buy from you again and again. Simply send each of your customers a coupon that they can print and bring with them into your store or use on your website. It is always a good idea to make your coupons valid for a limited time only to motivate your customers to make a purchase as soon as possible. Follow-up offers are one of the most powerful ways to build a profitable business because.

Clarify your Privacy Policy & Contact Info: Put your contact info in two places within the email. Bombard the text with ‘click here’ or repetitive plugs doesn’t usually do much but look like a hard sell. Two well placed and clickable contact links near the top and bottom of the email makes for easy and effective responses. Trust is essential in creating stronger customer relationship on the Internet. When a visitor subscribes to your newsletter and gives his or her contact information and other pertinent details, the person assumes that his/her information will be used only in-house, never shared, sold or rented so clearly articulating your policy. State on the registration forms what kind of information user may be willing to provide.

Test, Test and Test More: Create a test group, view formatting in an email client prior to sending any emails to your list! Test all the links contained within the email message and make sure they are properly formatted and work! Do a test mailing and send to a small population in your group to test your message. Conduct an A/B split test to determine the effectiveness of your message. Make sure that the sampling is a large enough that the results will be an accurate reflection of the messages effectiveness. Put your eye so that the same person doesn’t get more email at same time.

Respond promptly to email inquiries: The hallmark of good customer service on the Internet is the quick response time to email inquiries. Make sure that you respond to emails from your subscribers quickly to assure the person that you are taking care of his/her concerns. Offer to answer any additional questions they may have, and let them know that you are available to speak with them at their convenience. This can significantly increase your chances of closing a sale by providing your leads with extra information.

Track and analyze the results: As with any marketing campaign, tracking the results and optimizing performance over time is absolutely necessary. Thankfully, sophisticated email marketers can track insightful and actionable data that can be used to evaluate performance using Google Analytics & other softwares.. Important metrics to analyze are pass-along, click-through, and conversion rates. Marketers separate the click-through and conversion rates by original customers from referrals and evaluate their respective performances. These metrics will alert a marketer to which offers and customers drive the highest ROI.

I hope by implementing these practical policies, you can increase sales + traffic to your site.
