Now Google is one more step closer to success on its mission to know everything. Google just launched its, tool Knowledge Graph proposed to deliver more accurate information by analyzing the way users search.

With a desire to provide better search results comes a need for improved site-reading capacity. Google’s bots have been taught to act more like humans to interactive site content, running the JavaScript on pages they crawl.

Google has in the past offered up proposals to make AJAX content more searchable, but this put the load on Web developers rather than on Google’s bots. Finally Google started to figure out to the problem and find bots that could explore the dynamic content of pages in a limited fashion crawling through the JavaScript within a page and finding URLs within them to add to the crawl.

While digging through Apache logs, developer covered evidence that bots can execute the JavaScript, the crawlers seem to be imitating how users click on objects to activate them. Google search would get better access to the cavernous Web content hidden in databases and other sources that haven’t been index-able before.

I would say… Wow! Now, That’s The Excellence and Google Can Do Anything.

The features that you liked and adored in Webmaster Tools have been changed with a slightly different look last month. Some of the features have been renamed as new look boost the new functionality. The key changes include a new look to the dashboard, updated navigation, redesigned menus, a compact view for the home page site-list and a style that more closely integrates with other Google properties.

The dashboard has received a complete redesign no more look like a bunch of textual information. It’s the first page you usually see when you click on to manage a site. Most prevailing is the top message center labeled “New and Important” so you can notice those nastigrams from the Webmaster Tools spam team when you get them and the large gray and white interface recently adopted by search, Gmail.

The Google Webmaster Tools home page lists all the recent, important and prioritized messages regarding your sites, you’re authorized to manage in Webmaster Tools. With Google “Display Density” settings you can view list of sites without having to view the site-preview thumbnails, and select a “Comfortable” or “Compact” view modes for controlling the how compact the lines appear on your screen. It also has the benefit of loading faster since it doesn’t have to stream in large images.

You also now have the ability to sort sites not only alphabetically, but also “By site health” means, on top you can view the sites that have most of the issues. Three of the new feature navigations have widgets with Crawl Errors, Search Queries and Sitemaps representing Health, Traffic and Optimization.

Tasks or reports those have more related functionality can be found in four new groups are:

Configuration: Things you configure and generally don’t change very often.

Health: Where you look to make sure things are OK.

Traffic: Where you go to understand how your site is doing in Google search, who’s linking to you; where you can explore the data about your site.

Optimization: Where you can find ideas to enhance your site, which enables us to better understand and represent your site in search and other services.

If you are still curious to know more about Google Webmaster Tools and all the detailed information you will get on its front page.

Let us know your thoughts and comments on this new look.

Google is supposedly ready to launch their cloud-based storage service known as Drive, as early as the first week of April. The service will allegedly come with 1GB of free storage with the option to purchase more, will include a local client and a web interface that looks like Google Docs, and will have a domain-specific Google Apps version. Also, there will be an available API for third party use, unlike that of Google Music for folks to store content on the Drive from other applications.

Plenty of hypothetical Drive launch dates have already come and gone. Inside sources have confirmed that Google is planning to launch GDrive in This Week. Even GigaOm isn’t ready to say that this will be the final one.

Google is making a strong push to tie all of their services together. If GDrive actually launches, the product will compete directly with the industry leader Dropbox as well as Microsoft’s SkyDrive service. These services, which are well established, offer users 2 GB (Dropbox) or 25 GB (SkyDrive) of free storage.

While the Google Drive is launching long after the competition, the native syncing functionality combined with the ability to easily share files by simply providing a link will be appealing to some users. In addition, the pricing, which is currently $5 per year per 20 GB for Google’s other services, should help Google win over the budget conscious consumers and businesses.

As usual, we’ve got no way to verify the rumor, so we’ll just have to wait and see. The first week of April is only a few days away, so it shouldn’t be much of a wait if it turns out to be true.

One of the most interesting new features initiated, a holiday inspired endeavor that aims to deliver Google+ updates on a daily basis to come out of the facility to perform “searches by location”, like Google place where you can filter your searches by a zip code or city.

Benefit To:
Better for local businesses or marketers who use Google+ to increase visibility and exposure in their local appearance. This is a effective and powerful feature that allows to find local posts, people, hangouts, that matter most to you and improve your local network or business. A user simply has to conduct a search in Google+ as they usually do by typing in a keyword and press enter would, at the top of the page. From there the search results show up you’ll find a drop down and select the hangouts option, to filter the result just have to type a city or zip code.

The company has attempted to do this with hash “#” tags to search for posts / sparks / activities . You can pretty much find anything from people search to search the case on both the conventional and mobile web.

This feature should be of great interest to in order for users to be able to find you in the results, you must tag your update with the location you want people to see. Google+’s search features, combined with optimizing your posts with discovery in mind. It involve finding details about a hotels, markets, night clubs or what’s playing at the theater, it will help the user to finds the right information on the topic at hand.

As the new features spin in, it will continue to grow and remove incomplete or lacked features.

Google+ launched “Pages” for business and brands after originally announcing its Google+ social network in June that only allowed personal profiles.

Google+ even has also removed some of the brands that set up accounts using the personal profile. Some businesses were allowed to stay for testing purposes including the Ford Motor company.

Here are some of the major features of new Google+ “Pages”:

1. Allow Local Businesses to Create a Page – This enables customers to easily connect with the business’s physical location and include a map, address and phone numbers.

2. Google+ Pages includes Circles - The default circles include: Following, Customers, VIP’s and Team Members.

3. Conduct Hangouts – This duplicates the feature as seen in the personal profiles.

4. Share Photos, Videos and Links – This is the same as personal profiles and Facebook.

5. Google+ Allows Multiple “Pages” – Similar to Facebook even though you access your “page” through a personal account you can choose what profile business or personal you want to act as.

6. Total +1 Counts – As distinct from personal profiles an overall Google +1 count will show on a Google profile “page”. This will provide “social proof” of the popularity of a brands website which is a not a function for the personal profile G+ badge.

Google+ “Pages” – An Overlook

The Google+ pages are a very simple start that at first glance looks almost immature (we have become accustomed to what is now a very complex Facebook platform.)

What must be kept in mind is that any social network is a “work in progress” that will continue to develop and grow.

So some of the “missing” essential features that people have become accustomed to on Facebook may appear in time as Google+ pages “grow up:

1. Multiple Admin – This is not currently available but is coming apparently.

2. Custom Vanity URL’s – Just like Facebook when it launched its pages you were given a very big “number” not your name or brand. There is no information on when that might change.

3. Google+ Fans will not be able to Post Directly to a Wall – Currently you cannot post directly to a page but only offer comments on a post.

4. Google+ Pages do not Allow “Games” - I don’t know about you but I am not going to be shedding tears about this feature not being included.

5. You Don’t have to Verify you are a Company or Business – At this stage, you don’t have to validate your company credentials (I am sure this is an initial expediency measure to ensure fast take-up). Google+ will be providing verification badges in the future that will assist in ensuring brand “pages” credibility.

6. Pages Cannot Follow People – You can only follow people after they have first been followed as distinct from Twitter’s rules.

How to get Started with Google+ Pages:

Just like Facebook you do need a personal account to get started.

Step 1: Start at Your Personal Profile – Open up your Google+ personal profile dashboard and start the process. To setup a Google + Company Fan Page you will start by going to https://plus.google.com/pages/create

Step 2: Choosing Your Business Category - Start creating your page by selecting whether you are a local business, product or brand, company, institution or organization and the other options.

Step 3: Adding your Brand Name – This include adding your website URL (website link) as well as your business sub category and who you would like to be able to see your fan page. You can now limit what age group can see your fan page and limit if the content is not appropriate for certain age groups or users.

Step 4: Customizing the “Pages” Profile – This is where you write what your business is about, choose a Tagline for your business and upload the company and brand logo.

Step 5: Optimizing, Sharing and Connecting – You can embed a snippet of code in your website or blog that allows people to link and connect to your Google+ “page”. It also provides you with the URL for your business “page”.

After setting up your Google + Fan Page, you can share the new fan page with all your circles. Make sure after you setup your fan page that you post a couple things on there to not make your brand or local business look like they haven’t done anything. If you are on the cutting edge of technology, you should always be posting about the things that you’re doing on your site. Give yourself like, push it out to all your circles.

No,w you can manage your Google+ business page from Hootsuite. Here’s our eMarketinGuide Google+ FanPage.

During weekend, I read this article on jeffbullas and it was brilliant. It’ll tell you why & how social media is the future of Web. Here we go:

There are 2 billion of us who are connected to the internet and have been distracted by social multi-media networking sites that are generating astounding amounts of content with alluring high definition images and videos.

One cannot run away from their charm as they entice you to log in when you are out and about with either with your laptop, iPad or smart phone.

Have a look on stats below at the steep curve of the user growth rate in all age ranges and demographics, and the increasing popularity of social networking into every facet of work, play and life in general. One can’t disagree anymore that social media hasn’t changed forever how we interact and connect online.

One in every nine people on Earth is on Facebook ( This number is calculated by dividing the planets’ now 7 billion people by Facebook’s 750 million users)

People spend 700 billion minutes per month on Facebook

Each Facebook user spends on average 15 hours and 33 minutes a month on the site

More than 250 million people use Facebook through their cellphoness

More than 2.5 million websites have integrated with Facebook

30 billion pieces of content is shared on Facebook each month

300,000 users helped translate Facebook into 70 languages

People on Facebook install 20 million “Apps” every day

YouTube has 490 million unique users who visit every month (as of February 2011)

YouTube generates 92 billion page views per month, excluding those videos viewed on phones and embedded in websites

Users on YouTube spend a total of 2.9 billion hours per month (326,294 years)

Wikipedia hosts 17 million articles

Wikipedia authors total over 91,000 contributors

People upload 3,000 images to Flickr (the photo sharing social media site) every minute

Flickr hosts over 5 billion images

190 million average Tweets per day occur on Twitter (May 2011)

Twitter is handling 1.6 billion queries per day

Twitter is adding nearly 500,000 users a day

Google+ has more than 25 million users

Google+ was the fastest social network to reach 10 million users at 16 days (Twitter took 780 days and Facebook 852 days)

As soon as a brand name turns out to be famous, we assume it’s there to stay. So for years now, we’ve been Googling to show we are well-informed, Tweeting to remain through what’s occurring around us, and Facebooking for exhibitionism and voyeurism.

Nevertheless, with Facebook bringing new policies, and Google trying to surmount yet another aspect of our lives with Google+, there seems to be a sense of discomfort among netizens. The question rises, ‘How much do these networks know about us, and how will they use that knowledge?‘ is at last becoming significant.

So why should we get worried now? It is a known fact that Google has been privy to the content of supposedly private emails ever since they began to display targeted advertisements on our sidebars.

The adverse effects of Facebook become a topic of debate every time a post has a drastic effect. Earlier, the site was held responsible for ramifications ranging from divorce to denial of medical benefits.

The Facebook debate intensified when it was discovered that Facebook was using cookies to keep track of sites a user visits even after s/he logs out of the network. A huge number of Facebook friends began to post on each other’s walls, cautioning that the network was going to start charging money for its use, except one spammed all of one’s friends with the notice. Others began to sending notes on the dangers of Timeline – such as, that people will be able to see you’ve ‘unfriended’ them. Just in case they didn’t get the hint, now they can rub their faces in it!

It was also assumed that the amount of information and connections one has on Facebook will keep one ‘locked in’ for decades made everyone disgusting at the idea.

Do we recall that Mark Zuckerberg and his buddies didn’t bang on our doors with guns and forced us to sign up. Neither did they make us update their friends with every bit of detail of their lives. Also, they haven’t deprived anybody from the freedom of deleting posts, or even deactivating their accounts.

There appears to be a long-lasting fear that Facebook will expose undisclosed stalkers by allowing stalkees discover the people who are checking out their profiles. Every once in a while, one finds a wall post linking to a page that will allow one to “see who’s viewing [one's] profile!”. Never mind the fact that a user can block people from finding him or her, and filter what people see even if they do find him or her.

Also, users appear annoyed by Facebook’s decision to prioritize updates from people they interact with the most. Why does Facebook get to decide whom we want to see updates from? Thus people would like to be updated on the lives of people they don’t remain in touch with?

As soon as Google made an effort to seize Facebook’s grip on social networking by launching its e Google+, Facebook reacted by replicating its one attractive feature – circles to determine the visibility of each post.

A great deal has been made of Twitter‘s role in coordinating relief efforts after bomb blasts and natural disasters. Many of us are grateful to Orkut, and later Facebook, for enabling us to get in touch with long-lost school friends. Blogs and websites have done for intelligent people what shopping malls and reality shows did for beautiful ones – authors and journalists have got unprecedented publicity through their web forums, and cartoonists, humorists, and even artists have been discovered.

Last Friday, Google announced on their blog that they’re going to charge for Google Adwords local extensions clicks. If you’re thinking What is Adwords local extensions then here’s quick overview…

A way for your location extension-enabled ads to show directly on the map. Adwords team is integrating information from ads with location extensions into the Place Search map on Google.com. On the map, this location will be marked with a distinctive blue pin. See snapshot:

According to Google: Till now, we were enjoying this feature without paying anything but very soon, Google is going to charge approximately the same amount they’re charging on adwords ad if someone click on local extension. If you don’t want directions to come-up with adwords listing then you can do this by removing the location extensions associated with your campaign but Adwords team strongly believe that local extensions give “valuable information to local customers about your business”. So think again before ignoring this feature…

Further, these clicks will be count on desktop as-well-as mobile platforms. You can view the metrics in segment tab. Are you happy with announcement or have something to say, speak here or at webmasterworld post.

The practice of White Hat Search Engine Optimization, also known as Ethical SEO. The White Hat Techniques are ethical whereas Black Hat Techniques are not. It aims to make it easier for the search engines to tell when your site’s content is relevant to a query. In most cases, we do this by building a site genuinely more useful to its human visitors, so that they will recommend it to others by linking it from their own websites.

The business of search engine optimization is infected with scammers, swindlers, spammers and fraud artists as well. They are the Bad Guys of the Internet, and so like, we say they wear Black Hats.

The White Hat approach to SEO focuses on using clean code and verified optimization techniques, while avoiding all issues that could result in a penalty from a search engine. Most penalties result in reduced rank positions for a site. Penalties for violations may result in the banning of a site, which is the complete removal of a site from a search engine’s database. If your Web site is banned from a major search engine like Google, or the traffic to your site from Google and affiliated search engines such as Bing and Yahoo.

To improve a Web page’s position in a SERP, you have to know how search engines work. Search engines categorize Web pages based on keywords — important terms that are relevant to the content of the page.

Which are the Most Effective SEO Techniques?

Meta tags provide information about Web pages to computer programs but aren’t visible to humans visiting the page. You can create a Meta tag that lists keywords for your site.

Your pages are well structured (with headers and sub headers etc.).

One place you should definitely include keywords is in the title of your Web page and that you build many keyword rich inbound links.

Use descriptive page titles and other page text. Another good place to use keywords is in headers. If your page has several sections, consider using header tags and include important keywords in them. And your pages are indexed.

If you use a keyword too many times, some search engine spiders will flag your page as spam. That’s because of a black hat technique called keyword stuffing, but more on that later.

The Black hat approach, on the other hand, is fraught with risk because of its intentional or unintentional disregard for the rules as set forth by the major search engines. There aren’t many risks associated with White Hat SEO techniques, because the White Hat approach seeks to follow the rules to avoid penalty situations.

Basics of White Hat SEO:

Create targeted content

Build relationships

Target anchor text based on keywords

Links drive Google’s algorithm

Keywords aren’t the only important factor search engines take into account when generating SERP’s. Just because a site uses keywords well doesn’t mean it’s one of the best resources on the Web. To determine the quality of a Web page, most automated search engines use link analysis. Link analysis means the search engine looks to see how many other Web pages link to the page in question.

Is Search Engine Optimization Ethical?

The achievement of a search engine depends importantly on delivering search results that are as relevant as possible to each query and useful and interesting to the searcher. Whenever a Black Hat succeeds by capturing a search engine’s traffic, their visitors soon figure out they have been had and instead try their search on a different search engine. There is no ticket to easy street.

Success on the web, lasting success, takes long hard work. A search for “search engine optimization” at any of the search engines yields page after page of both result listings and advertisements claiming top ten placement and quick results.

Results are never guaranteed.

Results are never quick.

One can use SEO to push whatever ideas they like though. Search engine optimization is just a means to help distribute your message. Calling search engine optimization unethical is similar to calling creating a website or printing a newspaper unethical. SEO itself should not generally be fixed to any ethics guideline.

It is in fact quite possible to make a great deal of quick, easy money by spamming the search engines. Unsolicited email messages are spam because they shift the marketing time and cost from the marketer to the person opening their email.

Google’s guidelines are quite clear on things like hidden text and hidden links to duplicate content. People should have a dubious reaction when someone comes trying to buy links to spam/duplicate pages. Once a site is well-established in the search engines, referrals to new content can show up in less than a week. But it takes time before the search engines learn your site is worth treating well, time for your visitors to learn about your site and for some to link it from their sites, and time for the search engines to learn that your site is so highly regarded by others.

If you succeed with your unethical website optimization well enough to become a high-traffic site, you could fare even worse, as you might get caught. From time to time, each search engine improves their search algorithms in ways that tend to defeat search engine spammers and promote rightful websites.

Hello Everyone and Happy New Year once again. Recently, I saw my new year gift from Google and that is: “One Line Sitelinks for eMarketinGuide.com.” Have a look on below mentioned snapshot, how it’s looking:

Here are some of the basic and advance but important tips to bring sitelinks for your site:

SEO is Important: Your blog / site should have optimized title, description and keywords Meta tags. If you own a WordPress blog, you can try All-in-one-SEO-pack but basis search engine optimization is required for every site.

Remove Broken Links: Make your website error free by removing the 404 / error links.

Number of WebPages: Unless your website / blog have some articles it is impossible to get sitelinks. Your blog should have at-least 20-25 WebPages.

Internal Linking: The best way to bring sitelnks is interlinking. Interlink your important WebPages from different other WebPages (which you want to think in sitelinks). It also helps from users and usability perspective to increase page views and users stay time.

Good and Simple Navigation: Your blog should have good and simple navigation system. Try to have a <ul> and <li> list of links at the top for your blog. Put the navigation links in these tags. They also consider title tags of the pages.

Search Engines Traffic: If you get lot of traffic from search engines your blog will surely get familiar and it will be easy for getting sitelinks. Your blog should have High click through rates.

Searches and Clicks: The number of searches and the no. of clicks that your blog gets for a certain keyword will also be considered for sitelinks. Your blog should also get many clicks for the searched keyword.

Flow of Traffic: Your WebPages should have a consistent flow of traffic to get Google Sitelinks. If the traffic sources are from Search Engines, you should be more than happy.

Blog’s Age: It was time when you need to wait for a year or so to get one or multi-line sitelinks. Now-a-days, Google can assign sitelinks to your site within 4-5 months, those WebPages should be high relevant to their users.

Quality Content: Content is the king and it’ll provide you the targeted traffic so update your blog with quality content on a regular basis.

Link Bait: If you write a quality article copy, then you’ll get the advantage of link bait.

Sitemap: Create an error free sitemap, include all the links in the sitemap. Make sure to submit the sitemap in Google webmaster tool.

Reconsider Your Site: If you didn’t get sitelinks even after applying above mentioned tips, then you should request Google to reconsider your site. You have this option in Google Webmaster Tools.

Chrome Surpasses Firefox To Become Second Most Popular Web Browser.

“iPhone” topped Yahoo‘s U.S. top searches list for 2011, edging out Casey Anthony, Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry. Previously, it happened in 2002, when PlayStation 2 took the number one spot.

Google+ is rolling out a feature that allows its users to make free conference calls within Hangouts.

According to ComScore, YouTube passed 20 billion Video Views in October 2011.

77% of job seekers are using mobile to look for work in US.

Facebook launched a seamless messaging system. Mark Zuckerberg talked about conversation history and social inbox lists to aid filtering. This new system integrates other messaging systems, sms, facebook, chat in one. An iPhone App is available now.
In addition, you can now get an @facebook.com e-mail address if you want it. Mark Zuckerberg said: “This is not an e-mail killer,”. This will be rolled out over the next couple of months via invite system. For more detail: Facebook Blog.

Yahoo Contributor Network: Yahoo is inviting people to contribute to many of its most popular sites with the launch of the Yahoo! Contributor Network, a new platform for people to publish their creative content on Yahoo!. The Yahoo! Contributor Network is an evolution of the Associated Content platform and will bring contributions from more than 400,000 writers, photographers, and videographers to the Internet’s largest media destinations, including Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Finance, Yahoo! Sports, and even the Yahoo! homepage, among many others.

“The launch of the Yahoo! Contributor Network is a great example of how Yahoo! is executing against its content strategy. In less than six months since the acquisition of Associated Content, we’ve completely retooled the platform in order to bring the people’s voice to Yahoo!,” said Carol Bartz, CEO, Yahoo!.

Ask.com is dismissing search engine and concentrating on question and answer service.
The Internet search engine that media mogul Barry Diller acquired for $1.85 billion to compete with Google Inc., is cutting 130 engineering jobs and conceding much of its search business to competitors. Ask.com, a unit of Diller™ IAC/InterActiveCorp, is dismissing engineers based in Edison, New Jersey, and in Hangzhou, China, and ceasing work on its algorithmic search technology, according to Ask.com President Doug Leeds.

The search unit will consolidate its engineering operations at its headquarters in Oakland, California, and focus its resources on developing its online question-and-answer service. Twenty of the engineers currently working in New Jersey will be asked to relocate to Oakland, the company said. BLeeds said that Google has become too powerful a competitor to justify Ask.com continued pursuit of those search users.
Google entered into fashion based e-commerce Industry with the launch of www.boutiques.com.
Google wrote in their blog: “Today, we’re excited to share with you our first step towards realizing this goal. It’s called Boutiques.com: a personalized shopping experience that lets you find and discover fashion goods, by creating your own curated boutique or through a collection of boutiques curated by taste-makers—celebrities, stylists, designers and fashion bloggers. Boutiques uses computer vision and machine learning technology to visually analyze your taste and match it to items you would like.” See here: Google Blog

From last few months, I was experimenting on local search marketing and finally after a lot of research and education, I believe the power of it and I’m sure you’ll also believe it. Here, I’m sharing my experience with you.

What is Local Search Marketing – Local search is one of the most potential and least understood digital marketing strategy, even though it’s one of the most cost effective and upcoming digital marketing trend.

The above search result page is showing total 12 results on Google’s 1st page:

First 7 results are the local search results

Rest 5 are the general web results

I hope, above snapshot shows the power of local search. Sixteen billion search queries a month are conducted on the Internet in the U.S. in the month of July (source: searchenginewatch) and one fifth of those searches were local searches. More importantly, ideally, conversion rate is high on these Geo-specific searches as customers keen to buy a product or service from local vendor.

How it’s different than usual Google Search Results:
In usual SERP’s, Google shows you the universal results, which are not location based but when you search any Geo-specific search, it shows the city specific results and if not then your nearby location based results. You’ll see blended results, which includes:

Google Local (Google Places)

Yahoo Local

Bing Local

Other Popular Local Sites Results from:

CitySearch

InsiderPages

Yelp

Yellow Pages

SuperPages

MerchantCircle

And results from location based many other sites

As these search results will be location basis so if a website is not related to your location, it wouldn’t come up in your search results.

This is my first general post about local search marketing. Now, I’ll post my practical experience in few another posts so keep reading and contact me for your local search marketing campaign.
