It’s Shorten URL’s season. First Facebook and then Google launched their own URL shorten service. Facebook shorten URL is fb.me and Google is Goo.gl.
Facebook’s fb.me service will allow you to shorten any link on the site – even if you just want to trim down the path to a specific profile page (http://fb.me/ankush.kohli). No mention of whether or not they plan on providing an API for third-party developers to integrate the service.
Google announce this news through Official blog post says their service is not a standalone offering – at least for now. As this is not new so they’re giving rights to use this service only through Google Toolbar or Feedburner. You can’t use it to shorten links directly.
You can also setup your own URL Redirection service with Google Short Links. Check out the Labnol post for setting up your service.
